When you find a place to live, it is important that you set it up to be safe, comfortable and secure for your family. You will want to make sure that all of your household utilities are working on move in day.
- Contact the local telephone company two weeks before you move into your new home to get a phone number and arrange for a technician to set up your local and long distance telephone services. Telephone companies may also include internet and cable television services.
- Contact your local water, hydroelectricity and gas providers to arrange services. Utility providers will request identification such as an Ontario Driver’s License or SIN for verification.
- Utility providers will require security deposits and will also charge connection or installation fees. Ask your local provider for information about current charges.
Your local telephone directory or municipal office will have information about utility providers in your area.
