City of Kenora

Welcome to Kenora, Ontario
A Natural Attraction

Kenora is the second largest city in Northwestern Ontario and was celebrated as one of the best places to live in Canada by Canadian Business Magazine.  The magazine chose Kenora as a desirable place to live for its endless days of sunshine, its safety, its affordability, its cottage lifestyle and of course, for its magical natural beauty.

Located on the north shore of the renowned Lake of the Woods; one of Canada’s largest freshwater lakes, Kenora is nestled in the west corner of Northwestern Ontario. It is only 50 kilometres from the Manitoba border and a short 2 hours drive from Winnipeg – a colourful city with an international airport and multicultural population of 750,000.

People in Kenora know that life is better at the lake and the city provides the ideal base for weekend fun and vacation adventures on the Lake of the Woods. Residents have access to 65,000 miles of shoreline and 10,000 islands. The picturesque shorelines, sandy coves and forested islands are part of daily life for local families and provide an inviting vacation retreat for people from all across Canada and the United States.

There are so many ways to experience and live life in the Kenora area; something for every age, taste and budget. The city provides many essential residential, learning, and business services and its downtown area is bustling with waterfront activity, dining, entertainment and shopping options, as well as local arts and crafts, markets and events.

Kenora is one of the few places in Canada that successfully merges its diverse ethno-cultures and city life with a breathtaking natural setting.  It is a proud community where both permanent residents and seasonal visitors from all over the world make their homes throughout the year. However you choose to experience Kenora, will want to live its beauty again and again.
