Welcome to Wawa
Imagine Yourself Here
Wawa lies between the north shore of Lake Superior, the world’s largest freshwater lake, and the sparkling, spring-fed Wawa Lake. The town’s name is derived from the Ojibway word for “wild goose”, which is depicted by the famous Wawa goose statue that sits at the entrance to the town.
This unique community has approximately 3200 residents which includes large francophone and aboriginal populations. Located close to Lake Superior Provincial Park and Pukaskwa National Park yet also between the larger cities of Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, Wawa is an ideal home for those seeking nature without forgoing access to the modern conveniences of a city.
