Wawa’s main sources of employment are in the Sales, Public Services, Forestry, Mining and Tourism sectors. The top employers currently include: Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd., the Ministry of Natural Resources, Lady Dunn Health Centre and the Municipality of Wawa.
In recent years, Wawa has also become a hub for GIS (Geographic Information System) endeavours in the area thanks to the Northern Information Technology and Geomatics Cooperative (NITGC) http://www.nitgc.on.ca/ The Cooperative provides services to Wawa and the nearby communities of White River, Chapleau, Dubreuilville, Hornepayne and Manitouwadge.

has been in operation since 1993 and provides services to the communities of Wawa, Dubreuilville and White River. The office assists unemployed and underemployed individuals and employers in accessing available Employment Ontario programs including wage subsidy applications, skills enhancement training and other employment related services.
