Homes in Terrace Bay are very affordable with average prices from $80,000 - $100,000. Large lot sizes and spectacular views characterize many properties, offering families the opportunity to stretch their legs in their back yards without sacrificing other aspects of a comfortable lifestyle. Mortgages can be arranged at local financial institutions and taxes are approximately $1,500 - $3,000 a year based on assessment and size. Apartments are available for rent with monthly costs ranging from $300-$500.


Health

Despite its small size, Terrace Bay offers residents an excellent healthcare program.  A full complement of physicians and experienced nurses serve the general needs of the community out of the medical clinic and the modern hospital. Upon visiting the Medical Clinic in Terrace Bay, new residents are immediately assigned a family Doctor and appointments are usually available for same day service.

The McCausland Hospital in Terrace Bay is a 45-bed facility which includes the attached 22-bed Wilkes Terrace long-term care facility. As with Terrace Bay’s general practice services, the emergency department boasts excellent response times.

Residents also have access to specialists and state-of-the-art technology at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre which is less than two hours’ drive from Terrace Bay or through tele-health videoconferencing in Terrace Bay.

Shopping

Terrace Bay’s downtown caters to a wide range of shopping interests, serving the day-to-day needs of residents and businesses. Residents enjoy walk-to convenience in an attractive small-town setting featuring a post office, a large grocery store, a hardware store, a bank and a car dealership. Various restaurants, gas stations and hotels service residential and tourist traffic year round.

New Residents

New Terrace Bay residents are welcomed into the community by friendly neighbours and local volunteer groups that offer opportunities to meet new people. Establishing relationships with other community members is made easy by the variety of special interest groups and service clubs that are constantly seeking new members.
