Child care is widely available for young children and their families in Northwestern Ontario. Child care providers are provincially regulated to protect the health, safety and well-being of children.
The main types of licensed child care in Ontario are:
- Private child care centres
- Community child care centres (not-for-profit centres)
- School age child care
- Home based child care
Child care subsidies are available in Ontario to assist low income families. Your local municipality will be able to provide you with information about how to apply for financial assistance.
If you need help to find a licensed child care provider in your local area, visit the
Ontario Ministry of Children & Youth Services or your nearest
