Working In Northwestern Ontario

Working In Northwestern Ontario

Northwestern Ontario is a region that is full of opportunity. It is a place where people not only find work but create it. If you are looking for practical advice about working in Canada or information about job vacancies in your chosen profession, you'll find it here.

Finding work in Northwestern Ontario can be fairly easy - but finding the right job to suit you may be more difficult. Major employment sectors are in natural resource based industries such as mining, forestry, energy and tourism. Other industries exist mainly to service the needs of the regional market e.g. construction, I.T., transportation, retail and professional services.

Northwestern Ontario is also an important public service region. Many provincial and federal government offices are located in our cities and towns including: Ministry of Northern Development, Mines & Forestry, Ministry of Natural Resources, FedNor and Indian & Northern Affairs Canada. Government administration is supported by an active public services sector in fields such as health and education.

The Northwest region has an educated local workforce, but there are currently more positions to be filled in certain sectors than there are qualified candidates. Career opportunities are widely available in health and social care.
