Getting Canadian Work Experience

Getting work experience in Canada is one of the best ways to help you get a job. Most employers will ask about your work history and will usually choose a candidate with previous Canadian work experience if possible.

There are many ways to gain work experience in Northwestern Ontario. Some work experience is unpaid and commonly involves internships or volunteering. If you are accepted as an intern or volunteer in a business or organization, you will also need to pay your own expenses for travel, accommodation and other living costs.

If you are planning to attend a postsecondary institution, your local college or university will be able to provide you with more information about internships. Your local government offices may also have a list of internship opportunities available.
